- Ms. Surkin will be joining the staff of Marymount Manhattan College in New York City as a voice teacher.
- Ms. Surkin will be teaching vocal technique classes at NYU CAP21 during the month of July.
- Ms. Surkin has just taught a Master Class at Columbia University through the New York Singing Association's Master Teacher of Pedagogy Program. Her theme was Teaching Singing to People with Vision Loss. This course was video taped through Webinar through the NYSTA web site and can be taken for credit through Westminster Choir College.
- Ms. Surkin has just attended a seminar in Rochester on “Singing and the Brain”.
- A performance called Sorry Wrong Number by Jack Beeson, in which Ms. Surkin played one of the leading roles of the First Operator, has been made into a CD available on the Albany Records label.
- Ms. Surkin has been named Chair of the Voice Department at The Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School of Lighthouse International, coordinating their Master Class Series, administering on-line content for the music school and teaching voice. She will continue to keep her positions as voice instructor at New York University's CAP21 Musical Theater Program and the second alto soloist at St. Patrick's Cathedral.
- In the summer of 2007, Ms. Surkin successfully completed Levels I and II of the Somatic Voicework at The Institute for Contemporary Commercial Music Voice Pedagogy at Shenandoah University.
- Ms. Surkin made a demo recording of a world premiere show called Here on this Hill by Marshall Coid.
- Ms. Surkin was recently interviewed for ENToday, a magazine for Otolaryngologists.
- In January 2007, Ms. Surkin joined New York University's CAP21 Musical Theatre program as a private voice instructor.
